Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Does Rboard Theme Manager V3 work without ROOT?

Without ROOT it's not possible yet. That means no ADB tricks no nothing. We tried everything but doesn't work.

  • Why are there two separate versions of Rboard Theme Manager V3?

Actually Rboard Theme Manager V3 at the very beginning, it was made for Android 12 and above (It works from Android 12 to the latest Android) by DerTyp7214 (Main Developer) and was later backported till Android 6 (It works from Android 6 to the latest Android) by Akos Paha and DerTyp7214, but somehow it turned out to be two separate APKs.

Both Rboard Theme Manager V3s know the same thing.

The difference is that the Android 12+ version is developed by DerTyp7214 (and this is the regular Rboard Theme Manager V3), the Android 6+ version is just maintained by Akos Paha and sometimes DerTyp7214 to work properly on all Androids back to Android 6 and of course the other difference given by the Android version.

A port was made so that Rboard Theme Manager V3 can be used retroactively on older devices back to Android 6 and not only on Android 12 and above.

  • What can I do if my Gboard Flags are not working?

In principle, in some way the flags can be fixed again in the usual way from Rboard Theme Manager V3 if necessary.

The simple steps are:

  • Clear Gboard Data
  • Open Rboard Setting and Click "Fix Flags"
  • Go back and open "Gboard Flags" option
  • Change one of the flags
  • Go back and Open Rboard Settings again
  • Click "Copy flags"
  • Go back and after that, any flag will work normally

  • What can I do if the theme cannot be used on MIUI and other devices after downloading?

MIUI users have to reboot each time they download themes or do the same what Color OS does Color OS, Realme OS needs to turn off “Use Magisk” in settings to get it working

  • How can I enable flags within Rboard Theme Manager V3?

Open Rboard Theme Manager V3, pull up the bottomshelf and open the "Gboard Flags" option. For more flags open the "Show all flags" option inside the previous one.

  • How can I create my own theme?

  • Find location of this theme by name at /system/etc/gboard_themes or Gboard data (Non Module)
/data/data/com.google.android.inputmethod.latin/files/themes (or go to module location /data/adb/modules/rboard-themes and to the same location as above)
  • Open the theme ZIP you want to modify
  • Open .css files and find the color you want to replace with hex pipette
  • Change the colors as you like
  • Open metadata.json and change ID of theme to something else because without it gboard will think it's previous theme and will load from cache
  • Later you can put this theme zip to another zip and change .zip to .pack and import using Rboard Theme Manager V3

  • What can I do if the bottom of the keyboard is rounded?

Remove from /system/build.prop (or somewhere else on color os) line line with ro.com.google.ime.corner_key_r or remove module from manager if you installed it.

  • What can I do if Rboard Theme Manager V3 only loading and is empty and does not load or the themes do not appear?

If you have problem with Rboard Theme Manager V3 not loading use VPN. India blocked GitHub and Gitlab and this is where we are hosting everything Rboard related.

  • What can I do if the custom keyboard sounds don't work?

Custom keyboard sounds are only for AOSP based ROMs.
